What Is Tengrai Anime?
Tengrai Anime is our newly launched style, which we’ve created to give your ideas a fresh new look.
So, what makes Tengrai Anime special and unique? Unlike styles that try to mimic famous studios (for example, Studio Ghibli’s signature look), our new style is a respectful alternative born from our own imagination. Recent AI art trends have shown how popular anime-style visuals are, but also the ethical concerns around imitating copyrighted styles.
Tengrai Anime captures the charm of anime art, its warmth, whimsy, and emotion, but with a look that’s entirely our own. In short, it gives you that anime magic with none of the copyright worries.
So, what does it look like? Dreamy, painterly, and emotional. It reminds me of scenes from a beautifully illustrated storybook with a touch of anime nostalgia. The style features soft brushwork and vivid imagination, together with the typical expressive characters and moods of anime.
Basically, it’s inspired by the feelings anime gives us: wonder, adventure, nostalgia, and turns them into a fresh visual style. Now, let’s see how easy it is to use.
How to Use Tengrai Anime
Using Tengrai Anime is simple and fun. Whether you want to create an image from text or transform a photo into a playful anime-style artwork, you can quickly do it. Here’s how to use the new style in both Text-to-Image and Image-to-Image modes:
The easiest way to access the style is from the Quick Start section at the top of the Homepage.
For Text-to-Image, just enter a prompt describing the image you have in mind. Then, from the Style selection menu, choose Tengrai Anime, adjust the Creativity and Details levels based on your preference, and hit Generate. That’s it! Tengr.ai will bring your idea to life in an anime-inspired aesthetic.
You can also give your previously generated images an anime twist. Simply go to the Image-to-Image option (or to the Quick Start section), and then:
- Upload a photo or a previously generated Tengr.ai image.
- Select Depth from the Processing mode selector.
- Choose Tengrai Anime from the Style selector.
- Add a prompt for a more accurate result.
- Adjust the Creativity and Details levels based on your preference. Usually, the default setting, which is 3-Creative, gives great results, but don’t be afraid to do your own experimenting.
- Press Generate.
Using the Image-to-Image version of Tengrai Anime is incredibly user-friendly and works even without a prompt. But for more control, it’s best to add one. This helps to guide the AI toward the specific details you want to emphasize. Depth mode keeps the original composition of your image intact while applying the new style to it. So, if you upload a portrait, the person will still be in the same pose, but now gets a soft, painterly anime look.
Furthermore, let’s take a look at what Tengrai Anime can do with your images. For instance, here’s an image of a girl’s portrait transformed into an anime-style portrait using the Image-to-Image option with Depth mode:
As you can see, you can transform a realistic portrait into a cute anime version. In the first version, the Creativity level is set to 1, so the result stays closer to the original image, just with a soft anime makeover.
In the second version, the Creativity level is bumped up to 3, allowing the style to go further and add more imaginative details while still keeping the core composition. This one turned out more anime-like. That’s why I encourage you to experiment with the Creativity levels. It really does make a difference!
However, both versions have that dreamy, painterly vibe unique to anime. It’s an awesome way to give your images a completely new look and vibe.
Tips:
- You can also send any generated image straight to Image-to-Image by clicking the little arrow at the bottom of the image.
- To get the best anime-style results, keep your prompts short and simple. Long or complicated prompts can diminish the anime-effect.
- Play around with the Creativity and Detail settings, because they can really make a difference.

Initially, here are some prompts that shine with Tengrai Anime. These are to help you get started and to give you a dose of inspiration. There are all kinds of themes among them, and these will let the new style show its strengths:

Additionally, let’s take a look at a few Image-to-Image examples as well.
At first, I’ll show you some images created without any prompt, simply by applying the Tengrai Anime style to the uploaded image:
Next, we’ll show you examples comparing images with no prompt vs. using a short guiding prompt. For the first example, the prompt was: “Girl with red hoodie, misty forest background, moon.” This short prompt helped us keep the color of the hoodie and other details.
As you can see, even a simple prompt like this can add extra depth and detail to your image.
Here is another example where I used a short prompt to help preserve the original look of the subjects as much as possible. (prompt: “Blonde European family, analog style.)”
