Use These Magic Words to Enhance AI Images

Do you ever feel like your basic images need a little extra something? We gathered a few special aesthetic styles that can give a real boost to your images. All you have to do is enter one or two words into your prompt, and you’ll see real transformations.

In this blog post, we’ll explore a few Punk, Core, and Wave aesthetics. These styles have an influence on various forms of art, ranging from fashion to design, and digital content. They infuse images with specific visuals, moods, and atmosphere.

There are endless lists of these styles online. However, searching for and testing new styles can be frustrating and especially time-consuming. So, we picked some of our favorites and tried them out with Tengr.ai. Furthermore, to demonstrate the amazing effects these words can have on images, we’ll show you several examples. We want to present you the ones that have a great impact on images, and the ones to which Tengr.ai is most responsive. It’s important to mention though, that every image generating AI has its own way of interpreting the styles, so results can vary significantly from one model to another.

For these examples, we mostly used the Illustration or Default style, as we found that these were best to highlight each style’s characteristics. Feel free to experiment with other styles too!

1. Punk Aesthetics: Cyberpunk, Steampunk, Aurorapunk, Atompunk, Alienpunk, Biopunk

To better show you the effect of the styles on images, we used this prompt throughout: “A woman wearing a hat and trench coat.” This way, it’s easier to see the changes.

Cyberpunk aesthetics is a subculture popular among digital artists. It’s a very specific style that blends futuristic tech with urban environments. Additionally, it includes neon lights, a bright neon color palette, dark alleys, and high-tech gadgets. It gives images a modern, edgy look. These characteristics are well-portrayed in our images.

Steampunk includes technology and designs inspired by 19th-century industrial machinery. The whole steampunk look includes Victorian-Era elegance combined with visible gears and cogs, clocks, and lots of metal. As you can see, it really has an interesting effect on our image.

Aurorapunk is a style inspired by the otherworldly beauty of the aurora borealis (northern lights). It includes vibrant colors (greens, purples, blues), and blends elements of nature (starry sky) with futuristic and fantastical elements. It gives images a sense of wonder and beauty, just like the northern lights.

Atompunk aesthetics draw inspiration from the Atomic Age, from the 1940s to the 1960s. It features sleek retro-futuristic designs and bold colors. Mostly, it includes imagery of nuclear power, rockets, and sci-fi elements related to space exploration.

Alienpunk aesthetics focus on extraterrestrial life and futuristic civilizations. Its whole thematic revolves around weird, otherworldly elements, unusual color palettes and alien landscapes. It often features bizarre creatures, mysterious landscapes and alien technology. It’s a very strong style, it has a great impact on images. As you can see in our examples, just by entering this one word in our prompt, it completely transformed our image, and even the woman became an alien creature. It’s a very interesting and impactful style.

Biopunk combines biology and technology. It creates a world where human and machine blend together. While it’s a subgenre of Cyberpunk, it mostly focuses on biotechnology and genetics instead of information technology.

2. Core Aesthetics: Cartooncore, Lovecore, Angelcore, Cottagecore, Dreamcore

To showcase these styles, we again used the woman wearing a hat and a trench coat as an example.

Cartooncore draws inspiration from the playful and whimsical aesthetics found in modern cartoons. This means vibrant colors and exaggerated shapes or features, colorful visuals, typical of the world of cartoons. This is a style easy to recognize since it’s based on the imaginative and humorous world of Western animations, and cartoons.

Lovecore aesthetics includes elements of romance and love, with a pastel color palette. It has a soft and dreamy imagery and often incorporates motifs like flowers, vintage elements, and obviously hearts. In short, the whole theme of this style is romance, love, sentimentalism, and nostalgia.

Angelcore is inspired by the theme of angels, and beauty. What’s more, it even gives images a delicate, otherworldly effect. Mostly characterized by soft lighting, pastel colors (whites, pinks), and motifs such as wings, feathers, and clouds. It often includes angelic figures. Overall, the whole vibe is similar to the Rococo style.

Cottagecore is an aesthetic based on connecting with nature, rural life, and simple living. Additionally, it gives images a sense of nostalgia. Often includes cozy cottages, green landscapes, rustic décor and vintage dresses.

Dreamcore gives images a surreal character, just like in a pleasant dream. Specifically, it includes soft, gentle, light-toned colors, dreamlike landscapes, and abstract patterns. What’s more, it blurs the line between reality and fantasy. As a result, images created with this style have a sense of nostalgia and tranquility. Also, the dreamy vibe is enhanced by intricate details, fantasy-like scenes and creative elements

3. Wave Aesthetics: Vaporwave, Synthwave, Lightningwave, Glowwave

Vaporwave is a style originating from electronic music and became a visual art style around 2010. It often features retro-futuristic aesthetics and surreal landscapes. The use of pastel pinks and blues, whites, and especially neon colors are very characteristic of the style. Furthermore, the AI can enhance the typical Vaporwave aesthetic by creating distorted surreal compositions that resemble the digital culture of the 80s and 90s. Overall, it’s a visually captivating style that gives images a unique look. We even tested it in interior design and we really liked the results.

Synthwave also originated in electronic music. The style draws inspiration from graphics of the 80’s. It’s mostly characterized by sunset graphics, neon grids, neon lights, the visuals of retro video games, and 80s music. It is similar to Vaporwave, but there are certain differences. Synthwave features a more dramatic color palette with vibrant neon colors in contrast with dark hues. As you can see, these are well-portrayed in our images. Tengr.ai does a pretty amazing job of showcasing the characteristics of both the Synthwave and Vaporwave styles.

Lightningwave is recognizable from lightning streaks on images, and electric blue hues, emphasizing the intricacies of light and energy. Also, it gives images a sense of power and dynamism.

Glowwave is based on the theme of glowing things. Specifically, images with this aesthetic include elements that glow in the dark or are reactive to blacklight. For example: clothing pieces, accessories, or anything that glows in the dark. Overall, it has bright and vivid imagery, achieved by neon lights, bioluminescent effects, and futuristic elements.
