I’ve put together a few simple but practical tips based on my own experiments with fantasy and surreal landscape prompts. These are just a few quick tips that I’d gladly share with a friend just as passionate about Tengr.ai as I am:

• Add Imaginative Details: Add magical or mythical elements to your prompts, such as glowing crystals, floating islands, enchanted forests, or mythical or ethereal creatures, and even dragons, to make your scene feel magical and fantasy-rich.
• Set a Clear Mood: Words like mysterious, whimsical, eerie, magical, surreal, dreamlike, dark, or epic quickly show the AI the mood you want your image to have.
• Play with Lighting: Fantasy landscapes often look best with dramatic lighting effects. Use this to your advantage. Terms like moonlit glow, ethereal mist, magical aura, floating orbs, bioluminescent or luminous elements, or shimmering/iridescent reflections can give your scene a fantasy feel.

Soft light illuminates the scene, whimsical and epic.” – I tried it in several different styles, but I think Quantum Mode‘s Film-Noir style gave it a really special effect, while Film and Retro style gave it a cinematic vibe.

“A colossal hyper-detailed dragon curled around a mountain peak, overlooking a valley filled with swirling mist and ruins of an ancient civilization, (dramatic lightning illuminating the storm clouds), and faint glows of treasure visible in a cave below, cinematic and intense. – Here we went full fantasy. Even if dragons aren’t real, Tengr.ai doesn’t mind creating one. The dramatic lightning and storm clouds brought a lot of intensity.

“A hidden island on a tranquil sea, (surrounded by a ring of glowing mist), with gigantic luminescent mushrooms and trees with golden leaves, a waterfall cascading into the ocean. Serene and otherworldly.”

Here you can observe the difference in how Quantum Mode interprets the prompt compared to Fairytale and Horror styles. Each style shows the same elements uniquely, giving the island a completely different vibe. By testing your prompt in different styles, you’re sure to find the one that perfectly matches what you’ve imagined.

Next, let’s see a more surreal and magical world. I’ve been captivated by this prompt for a long time. I’ve played around with it many times, and every small tweak surprised me with stunning and unique results each time:

“(A fantasy world with Rayleigh Taylor Instability), color gradient ink streaks, surreal brushstrokes, iridescent reflections, gingko leaves and colorful birds flying, psychedelic, dreamlike, surreal world, ethereal, magical, ombre effect, breathtaking, (past and future merging), awe-inspiring, transcendent, mind-bending.” – Surprisingly, I really loved how the Machinart style turned out with this prompt. It added unique steampunk-style elements that made the image truly unique. Of course, Fairytale, Horror, and Quantum Mode also produced amazing results:
