We’ve put it to the test to show you exactly how it works and give you some inspiration to start with.

What is ScenaNova?
As you probably know by now, Tengr.ai has recently released its new 0.8.5 version. Along with this update, the team added a new innovative tool to Tengr.ai’s already versatile and powerful collection of processing modes, called ScenaNova.
Importantly, what you have to know about this new tool is that it keeps the foreground or the subject as it is, unchanged, and based on your text prompt it generates a new background.
ScenaNova is great for reimagining your AI artwork by giving it a new backdrop. What’s more, you can use it for other creative purposes too. Consequently, this feature opens up some very exciting new possibilities for designers, marketers, and content creators.
How to Use ScenaNova?
Now, let’s see the actual steps for using it:
- Just upload your image using ‘Image → Easy Mode’, or pick ‘From this‘ after you’ve generated some images.
- Find ScenaNova in the processing mode list (meanwhile, look at those cute little squirrel icons. They’re adorable, right?).
- At the ‘How strongly should this be modified?’ option you can experiment with the levels but we found that ‘Extremely’ works best most of the time. ‘Strongly‘ also works well, but sometimes it doesn’t swap all four backgrounds.
- Regarding the prompt, you have two options: either describe only the new background you want, removing the rest of the prompt; or keep the original prompt, and add the new background description to it. Experiment with both versions and see which one works best for you.
Example prompt: “Minimal art, Wire art, abstract expressionism, beautiful angel with broken wings, (in a ruined city), beautiful, masterpiece, artistic, silver lines, silver, pain, deep sadness.“
Let’s keep the angel and change the backdrop: “Minimal art, Wire art, abstract expressionism, beautiful angel with broken wings, (in a cloudy, heavenly landscape), beautiful, masterpiece, artistic, silver lines, silver, pain, deep sadness.“
Additionally, we’ve tested this processing mode in Impasto style as well. The results are amazing.
Creative Applications of ScenaNova and Examples
Next, let’s see a few creative applications of ScenaNova. It’s very useful for reimagining and transforming AI-generated images, but there’s more to it.
ScenaNova can be a game-changer for content creators, whether it’s for social media, blogs or other digital content. It’s where our new processing mode mostly shines. Let’s say you generate a detailed portrait for your content—every small detail from the outfit to the expression, freckles, or even the color of the eyes can be added. And then, you can use ScenaNova to place that same subject against a backdrop of your liking. For example, switching from an office setting to the outdoors, or from a studio to a beautiful Santorini scene. This adaptation allows you to adjust the image’s story and mood to better match the concept you’re aiming for. Here is a simple example:

Swapping the background this way is a lot easier than coming up with whole new complex descriptions for each new idea you want to try out.

Now let’s see how the modifying levels (‘How strongly should this be modified?’) influence the outcome. We took an image of a luxurious perfume bottle and used the prompt: “Luxurious perfume bottle among colorful feathers.” We tried it in ‘Normally‘, ‘Strongly‘, and then ‘Extremely‘ levels to see the difference.
As you see, this one setting created different outcomes. The ‘Extremely‘ level shows more and brighter feathers, while the ‘Normally‘ level is more toned down, it has fewer, and less vibrant feathers. However, using ‘Extremely‘ changed the bottle a bit too. If that happens, and it bothers you, try using a lower setting.
In continuation, let’s also mention food images for different marketing or social media purposes. You can create mouthwatering food images and place them in different settings, such as from a kitchen counter to a rustic Italian vineyard backdrop.
